Tate Modern is the national gallery of international modern art and also houses a collection of British art from 1500-century. Gallery was created in 2000 from a disused power station in the heart of London. Building size is huge when you enter the turbine room drama, which is 152 meters long! A collection of modern and contemporary art represents all the major movements of Fauvism. It includes important works by Picasso and Matisse and the Surrealist works of Dala, Ernst, Magritte and Mira. American abstract expressionism works include those that Pollock, as well as the nine Seagram Murals by Rothko. There is a deep collection of Russian pioneer of abstract art Naum Gabo, and an important group of sculptures and paintings of Giacometti. Tate has important collections of pop art, including major works by Lichtenstein and Warhol, Minimal art and Conceptual art.
