The British Museum opened in 1753 and is the pride of being free of all time. The British Museum houses more than an incredible 7000000 pieces and would probably take weeks to see everything. The collection of ancient Egyptian and Greek are, without doubt, one of the largest and most famous in the world. Part of the collection consists of the controversial Elgin Marbles, brought from the Parthenon in Athens by Lord Elgin, while serving as ambassador to Constantinople in the nineteenth century, and subsequently acquired by the British government museum.
